“Where Goes the Rule of Law?”

When former 20-term Congressman Pete Stark, (D-CA) was asked where Congress got the constitutional authority to control something as personal as our health care, he responded: “I think that there are very few constitutional limits that would prevent the federal government from rules that could affect your private life. The federal government, yes, can do most anything in this country.” Then-speaker Nancy Pelosi famously responded incredulously to that same question by saying, not once, but twice: “Are you serious?”

So much for the rule of law. Radical efforts are continuing to be made to remove the distinctions between the three branches of government. The tilt has gone towards the executive branch. The bipartisan view that our president can initiate foreign military action virtually anywhere he wishes and at any time without being authorized by Congress is an example of a very dangerous precedent. One of the reasons he gets away with it is that our citizens have no clue that it is illegal.

President Vs. Congress?

Whether it was George W. Bush in Iraq or Barack Obama in Libya, the disdain presidents show toward congress and the apparent willingness of Congress to abdicate its constitutional responsibilities are both disturbing and dangerous. James Madison, in a letter to Thomas Jefferson, stated, “The Constitution supposes what history demonstrates, that the Executive is the branch most prone to war and most interested in it; therefore, the Constitution has with studied care vested that power in the Legislature (Our House of Representatives).” The executive Branch conducts the war, but Congress is supposed to declare the war. As columnist George Will wrote, “Obama is demonstrating in foreign policy what he has redundantly demonstrated in domestic policy—a supine (indolent/apathetic) Congress is superfluous to governance.”

Another of the most egregious acts has to do with Obamacare. The president announced that the IRS would implement new taxes and entitlement programs that Congress never enacted. Obvious executive overreach. Now comes the scary part. The government was sued. The administration’s main argument was not even a legal one. But the court decided for the IRS based upon the consequences of the law, not on the law itself! Now presidents can modify, amend, suspend, or even create laws at his or her discretion! As Cato Institute’s director of health policy studies Michael Cannon stated, “If you are going to violate the law, go big, because the Supreme Court is too afraid of disruption to enforce the law.”

Where Does the Citizen fit in?

And what of the government’s disdain for you and me? Have you noticed any changes in the news, or in your personal life? How many citizens reflect on the fact that government employees work for us?

Remember the Director of National Intelligence lying about the NSA spying on tens of millions of Americans? Yes, they do. Or HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius? How about Veterans Affairs secretary Eric Shineski? Or NSA Advisor Susan Rice lying about Benghazi and later lying about our use of Turkish air force bases. Everyone is trying to cover their backsides and when they lie, they don’t’ even get fired!

And of course we have the issue of incompetence. Just remember the rollout of Obamacare. What a disaster and of course the president lying (to get elected) about us keeping our old health care programs. The scandalous treatment of our veterans seeking health care was everywhere. Remember the Secret Service leaving the front door of the White House open for an intruder with a knife? Wow. Do you recall president Bush declaring a war over non-existent (at least in Iraq ) weapons of mass destruction that will cost us $3 trillion, killing more than 4,400 Americans and 110,000 Iraqis, help set up ISIS, and leave the Iraqi government in the hands of buffoons who care more about their flavor of Islam than the survival of their nation? And has Afghanistan turned out much better?

The Root Cause of the Disease

The battle for the soul of America will be based on a couple things. First, a political philosophy that will return us to the passion of the American Revolution. The second battle has to do with the spiritual soul of this nation. Unless it gets back to the tenets of Scripture and a morality that matches it, it will go the distance that Rome did. Rome fell from the inside, not from some foreign military overcoming it. America is headed the same direction without a change in its soul and spirit.

Millions of Americans fear that our nation is in danger of losing what has made us the envy of the world. American Exceptionalism may be a thing of the past. I, for one, believe that we have lost most of what our forefathers bled and died for. However, that does not mean that we cannot get it back. American Exceptionalism has nothing to do with military power but with government’s duty to protect Americans’ rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That phrase was a radical statement back in the day it was adopted, and truthfully, it still is. It says that the individual is primary, not the state. Consider Thomas Jefferson once again: “Experience has shown that even under the best forms of government, those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. Slowly, like cooking the frog until he “wakes up” dead. It is the right of the individual to make practically all of their decisions—not some bureaucrat. Yet most Americans, I fear, have allowed government to do it out of laziness or a complete ignorance of the foundations of our freedom. One favorite phrase I love the most is: “Less government, more individual responsibility and with God’s help, a better world.”

Our Response: The Con-Con and “Trade” Unions

What can we do? Prayer and education would be two linchpins. We must also seek to stop the call for a Constitutional Convention, as those promoting it are hoping it will occur with the goal of shredding the Constitution. There are calls for a Balanced Budget Amendment, but no one has even come up with proposed language yet. One proposal is for an unlimited Article V convention, simply calling for one without instructions. It is NOT only conservatives working to establish such a convention. George Soros’ Wolf-pac, for example, is one seeking to get a Con-Con through. If the Constitution is not being adhered to now, there is no reason to believe any new amendments will be followed by a liberal Congress, Court, or Executive.

The other threat which needs to be addressed is the push for trans-oceanic unions, to integrate our economy with regional governments to the extent that we are hampered from making our own decisions as Americans. All of it is being done under the guise of free trade. Would you rather be under the auspices of the United Nations or free to make your own decisions? One of the arguments for internationalism is security and prosperity. People want security and are often willing to give up their rights for it. Talk to a German if you doubt it. Said Ben Franklin: “Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Thank practically for a moment. If Obama’s administration is forming trade deals with socialist and communist countries which do not believe in free enterprise, why are they calling it “free trade?” If our country’s leaders have set up a trade policy that has already nearly destroyed our industry, why would we think that now they have the answer to prosperity? Or the wars on terror, drugs, poverty and our immigration policy? These have all been dismal failures. And now we lack the ability to produce weaponry without the importing of 80% of the components! We cannot produce a major aircraft without parts from Russia and China. We can no longer lift a rocket into space without purchasing the rocket engines from Russia. Does that make you sleep better tonight knowing that? Our steel industry has moved to China, a communist state. Add to that the fact that 70 of our Congressmen are members of the Socialist International and you can see the difficulty we have moving forward. This is one major reason Congress has not repealed Obamacare as promised, but has instead only reformed it.

What are the Aims?

There are three basic aims of these trade agreements (Trans-Pacific Partnership—TPP—and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership—TTIP). These are to weaken us economically, tie us into a political union where we cannot make our own decisions, and deprive us of the ability to mass produce any required weapons for a world war in the future. Without accomplishing these, a New World Order will have a hard time getting established. By providing a poor education of our citizens, generation by generation, concerning the Constitution and the basic principles on which it is based, they can slowly adopt these N.O.W. principles. These two so-called trade agreements are partnerships and will be enforced as treaties, seeking to integrate our economy with the economies of the signatories. They are nation killers.

Political Parties are not the Answer

In this war, ladies and gentlemen, the battles are not concerned with partisanship. Partisanship needs to be neutralized and the focus needs to be on the law, the Constitution. What party you belong to has very little to do with a win on this front. Those supporting the New World Order come from both parties. John Adams spoke to this: “There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great partiers, each arranged under its leader and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil.” This was probably due to political discipline imposed on its membership. It can cost Congressmen committee appointments and positions of responsibility, thus keeping them all in lock-step with party leadership.

It all begins with education that moves into activism. If you are wondering if there is a good magazine that keeps up-to-date with the truth on these subjects, consider subscribing to the New American. It has excellent articles on the most important issues of the day. And please encourage your employees to contact their Congressmen about saving our Constitution and following it. Oh yes….pray!
